Setting Up Your Encryption Device

The following sections provide step-by-step procedures for setting your secure telephone / encryption device for
Asynchronous 9600bps secure data mode.
2 .6 .1 L-3 Secure Terminal Equipment (STE)
Objective: To set the Secure Signalling Mode to SCIP, Secure Data Mode to Asynchronous 9.6 Kbps and SCIP
Line Quality to Normal
Set your 90si Default Settings to: (05) Full Duplex, (08) Async 9600, (16) STE Connected and your chosen con-
figuration (See Section 2.3 Choose a Configuration).
For STE's with software V2.4 and later:
While On-Hook (to permanently set)
Press

CHANGE
CHANGE (until)

Note that to permanently set the Secure Data mode, the handset must be on-hook. If you do these procedures with
the handset off-hook, the changes hold for the current call only. When you hang up, the Secure Data settings will
revert to the previous settings.
