Ix- Troubleshooting
Problem: Burnerwill not light or has
incompleteburnerflame.
PossibleCausesand Solutions:
1. Checkfor spiderwebsor insect nest in vented
and clean venturi.
2. Lackof fuel. Checkto see cylinder valve is
open and cylinderhasfuel.
3. Misalignment o f ventufion orifices.Position
vented over orifices.
4. Burnerports, valvesor hose haveblockage.
Clean the components.
5. If burner lightswithmatchbut not igniter,check
ceramic electrodeposition ingas collectorand
its connections. Performigniter test and
replaceany damagedparts.
6. Crimpedfuel supply hoseneeds straightened.
7. Regulator failure or damagedhoseneed to be
replacedby a Sears or otherqualified service
dealer.
8. Quickconnect is not engagedand needs
properlyassembled.
Problem: Yellow flame.
Possible Causes and Solutions:
1. Checkfor spider websor insect nest in vented
andclean venturi.
2. New burner may haveresidual oil which will
burn off.
3. Cleanoff any food residue,grease or season
saltson burner.
4. Air may be in cylinderif cylinderwasnot
properlypurged.Use up remaininggas; the
yellowflame may disappearwith use.
5. Venturismay be rnisalignedandneed lined up
overorifices.
Problem:Flameblowsouton lowsetting or
has uneven heatdistribution.
Possible Causes and Solutions:
1. Checkfor spiderwebs or insect nestin venturi
andclean venturis.
2. Coldgrill needsto be preheatedfor 5 minutes
on high setting.
3. Venturismay be misalignedand need lined up
overorifices.
4. Coldand windy weatherwill require you to
movegrill awayfrom the wind.
5. Lack of fuel. Checkto see cylinder valveis
openand cylinderhasfuel.

If a fire occursat the
cylindervalve, Do Not attemptto movethe
cylinder.Immediately call the fire department
andclearthe area.Youcan safely spraywater
witha garden hosefrom a distanceof at least
15 feet awayfrom cylinder untilfiremenarrive.
Problem: Grill too hot.
PossibleCausesand Solutions:
1. Excessiveflare-ups which requirethe
maintenancedescribedin thismanualunderT
"In Case Of GreaseFire".
2. Adamagedorificeor regulatorwhichrequires
replacementwith identicalpads.
3. Build up of grease insidegrill will require
cleaningandemptyingof greasecup or tray.
4. Cheesea lower cookingtemperatureif using
excessivelyhighsettings.
Problem:
Fire at any connection.
Possible Causes and Solutions:
IMMEDIATELY shut off cylinder valve and
allow grill to cool.
I. Gas is leakingfrom a faulty connection.
2. Tightenconnectionswithan adjustablewrench
and replacedamagedparts.
3. Performe leak test on all connectionsbefore
cookingon grill again.
Problem: Flame behind control panel or
control knob area,
Possible Causes and Solutions:
IMMEDIATELY shut off cylinder valve and
allow grill to cool.
1. Checkfor spiderwebsor insectnest in venturi
andclean venturis.
2. Gas is leakingfrom a faulty connection.
Tightenconnections withan adjustablewrench
andreplacedamagedparts. Performa leak
test on all connectionsbeforecookingon grill
again.
