IT- In Case of Grease Fire:
Follow These Steps:
1. Shutoffgas at the burnervalve(s)and stay
away!
2.Allowthefireto burn itself out.
3. Oncethefire is outandthe appliancehas
cooled, s hutoffthe LPcylinder v alve.
4. Cleanallpartsandinspect f ordamage. Partsto
check for damageare the LPcylinder, c ylinder
valve,regulator, gassupply hose,burner
valve(s)andburner.
5, If any ofthe abovementionedcomponentsare
damaged Call Sears at 1-800-4-MY-
HOME _ for replacementparts.
Note:
• Someflare up addsa smoky flavorandsears
food. Excessivegreasefires can causea
potentially h azardous situation anddamagethe
grill.
• Avoid excessive flare ups by pre-heatingthe
grillwiththe lidclosed for5 minutes on high
setting to burn off greasefrem previous
cooking.
• Cookwith lid down andcontinuallymonitor
cookingfoodto avoid greasefires andflare
ups.
• Trimming excessfat from meatwill reduca
greasefires andflare ups. Cookfatty meat in
smalleramountsover indirectheaton low
setting.
U- Cleaning the Venturi
Steps For Cleaning Venturi:
1. Removeburnerfrom grill bottom.
2. Lookinside lower endof venturi t ubesfor nests,
websor mud.
3. Toremovethe aboveobstructions, usean
accessoryflexible venturi b rush or benda small
hookononeendof a 20 inchlongflexiblewire
suchas theoneshown in Fig.28 andthe
representative illustration in Fig.29.
4. Inspect a ndcleanthe burnerif needed.
5. Replace the burnerassembly intothe grill.
6. Makesurethevalveorifices are insidethe
vecturi t ubes.
7. Secureburner b ack intogrillbottom.

WARNING
Spider'snests or wasp'smudinsidethe ventud
may causefireat valve. If a fire occurs,
immediately t urnoffgassupply at LPcylinder
valve.(See representative i llustration in Fig.27)
Note:
Spidersand smallinsects can spin websand build
nests insidethe venturitubes. This especially
occurs in latesummerandfall beforefrost when
spidersare mostactive. Thesenests can obstruct
gas flow and causea fire in and aroundthe burner
valves. Sucha fire can causeoperator injuryand
seriousdamage to the grill.
To help preventa blockageandensure fullheat
output,clean andinspectventuri tubesoften (once
or twicea month). NOTE: Wateror air pressure
will not normallycleara spiderweb.
