2. To create and use a diskette, you must attach an optional external USB diskette
The flash memory of the server consists of a primary page and a backup page. The
backup page is a protected area that cannot be overwritten. If the primary page
becomes corrupted, the server boots from the backup page, which enables you to
replace the BIOS code for the primary page.
To recover the BIOS code and restore the server operation to the primary page,
complete the following steps:

v Start the EasyUpdate program.
v Download the BIOS code image to create the POST/BIOS recovery diskette,
CD, or DVD from http://www.lenovo.com/support/.
v Contact your Lenovo service representative.
drive to the server. To enable the USB diskette drive, complete the following
steps:
a. Enable the USB Support option in the Devices and I/O Ports menu in the
Configuration/Setup Utility program.
b. Set your removable media device as the first startup device.
c. Select the removable media device that you want to boot from and move it
to the top of the list.

2. Turn off the server, and disconnect all power cords and external cables.
Attention:
In a dc power environment, only trained service personnel other
than Lenovo service technicians are authorized to connect or disconnect power
to the dc power supply. See the documentation that comes with each dc power
supply.
3. Remove the server cover. See "Removing the cover" on page 56 for more
information.
