Multicell System

General Information

In Gigaset 1054 multicell systems, you can use a mobile unit to reach multiple base stations.
With the proper placement of your Gigaset 1054, you can expand the radio range within which
you can use the mobile unit.
You can register and operate your mobile units on up to 4 base stations of Gigaset 1054.
Up to 8 mobile units can be registered on every Gigaset 1054 base station.
Organization of Base Stations and Mobile Units
To ensure a clear overview of the operation of mobile units on multiple base stations, we recom-
mend the following procedure:
Number the base stations, i.e. using the numbers 1 to 4
Stipulate the internal numbers for the mobile units which are to be operated on the base sta-
tion (see "Registering Mobile Units, Comfort Mobile Units on Multiple Base Stations" , page
134).
Register the mobile units on base station 2 under the same internal numbers as on base sta-
tion 1.
Register the mobile units on base stations 3 and 4, if present.
Activate the display of the base station number on every mobile unit (see page 133). This is
not necessary in the case of the Comfort mobile unit (see "Activate / Deactivate Display of
the Base Station Number" , page 133).
In addition, when using a multicell system behind a PBX with different connections:
Set up a group call in the PBX so that a mobile unit can be reached on the various connec-
tions.
Tips for Operation
The mobile units are connected via radio to the base station which is currently shown on the
display. Calls -- both outgoing and incoming -- can only be made via the base station dis-
played (even if it is within the radio range of a neighboring base station).
Internal calls can be made to stations within the radio range of the current base station, but
not to neighboring ones.
If the mobile unit moves into the radio range of another base station, the contact to the old
base station is terminated and automatically establishes radio contact with the new base
station (see "Automatic/Manual Selection of the Base Stations" ,
page 136).
The "Automatic Selection" of a base station can be deactivated. The user can stipulate
manually which base station the mobile unit should be connected to (see "Automatic/Manual
Selection of the Base Stations" , page 136). This is important when operating within the over-
lap sector of two radio cells. The user can, in that case, stipulate which base station should
be used.
