1.1 General Features

Direct Inward System Access (DISA)

Description
Allows an outside caller to access specific system features as if the caller is an extension in the
system. The caller can have direct access to features such as:
• Placing an intercom call to an extension. A dialling route using a one-digit number
(DISA Automated Attendant (AA) number) is available.
• Calling an external party.
One of the following security modes must be selected to prevent the caller from making
unauthorised calls. <[809] DISA Security Type>

(Outside Line)
All Security
When making an outside call by Call Forwarding — to Outside Line, the call is permitted
exceptionally.
An Outgoing Message can be programmed for the DISA feature. When a caller reaches the
DISA line, a prerecorded message will greet the caller. Up to 9 DISA messages may be
recorded by the operator. And they can be used for different Intelligent Call Handling tables.
Warning
When you enable the Outside-Outside Line Call feature of DISA function, if a third party
discovers the password (a DISA User Code) of the system, you have a risk that they will make
illegal phone calls using your telephone line, and the cost may be charged to your account.
To prevent this problem from occurring, we strongly recommend the following points:
1: Carefully maintain the secrecy of the password.
2: Specify a complicated password with several digits.
3: Change the password frequently (at least once per month).
Note
You can set either the Built-in Voice Message (BV) feature or the Voice Mail (VM) feature at
a time, but not both. If you set VM, the functions of an optional voice message card KX-
TD61291 cannot be used. In other words, BV, OGM and Direct Inward System Access (DISA)
cannot work when VM is used. Before setting VM, be sure to listen to voice messages of BV
and then delete call log entries if stored. Otherwise, you can do nothing with it after setting
VM.
