External Control
These specifications cover tile communications
control of the monitor by
external control. Connections are made as fbllows:
I. ltle connector on tile monitor side is tile EXTERNALCONTROLconnector
(an illustration of the pin assignment is on tile right).
2. Tile connector on file external equipment side is a serial port {RS-232Q
connector. See tile specifications of file external equipment to be connected
for tile type of connector anti pin assignment.
3. Wiring: Use a crossed freverse) cableL
Wire the cable so fltat eadl pair of data lines cross between the monitor and
the external control device. The data line pairs are RXD (recieve data) and
1ND (transmit data), DTR (DTE side ready), and RTS (ready to send) anti CTS
(Ielear to send).

Communication
Format
Command 1 and Command 2
Command I and command 2 are numbers used to distinguish each command,
In case of ACK,when the lower order 4 bits is FH (as in 3FH and 7 FH), this
indicates that the commands and data of tile supported equipment have been
received. When the lower order of' 4 biLs is BH (as in 3 BH anti 7 Blq), this

Unit ID 1 and Unit ID 2
Unit 1D I and Unit 1D 2 are sued to identi_; the equipment that is to be connected. 6OH is used for tile monitor and 80t-t is used
fbr the external control equipment (i.e., a personal computer).
Unit 1D I indicates tile equipment is sending the signal.
Unit 1D 2 indicates tile equipment is receiving the signal.
Check Sum (CKS) Error Processing, and ACK
The check sum and RS-232C odd parity are used togefller for a Check of' tile received data. The check sum is file lower order 8 bits
of one frame or sent or received data comprising the sum total of Command 1, Unit 1D I and 2, Data Length, and Data.
Error Processing
,, If"the communication
interval is vacant for more than 4 ms, a received Command I will be recognized. Then, if'meaningful data
cannot be recognized, tile data will not be recognized as valid.
,, An ACK will not be returned unless the receive data error, tile cheek sum error and tile receive data are all taken in.
