On Canadianmodels,the cooking surfacewill not operate during a self-clean
cycle.

glass-ceramic surface. The elementwill cycleon and off to maintainthe preset
heatsetting.

Whenthe HOTSURFACE lightturnsoff (seebelow), t he cookingareawill be cool
enoughto touch.

NOTE:Do not attemptto lift the cooktop.
COOKING AREAS
Thecookingareason yourrangeare iden-
tiffedby permanent p atternson the glass-
ceramicsurface. For most efficient cook-
ing, fit the pansize to the elementsize.
Pansshouldnot extendmorethan f/2to
1.inchbeyondthe cookingarea.

HOTSURFACE LIGHTS
Each elementhas a
HOTSUP, FACE
indicator
will be illumi-
nated whenthe match-
ing cooking area is hot. It willremainon,
evenafterthe controlisturnedoff, untilthe
area has cooled. They are locatedat the
front centerof the cooktop.
TIPSTO PROTECTTHE
GLASS-CERAMICSURFACE
Beforefirst use, cleanthe cooktopas
directedin thecleaningprocedures on
page 12.
_-Do not use glass pans. They may
scratchthe surface.
>_ Donotaflow plastic,sugarorfoodswith
high sugarcontenttomelt ontothehot
cooktop. Should this happen,clean
immediately. (See cleaning pro-
cedures,page 12.)
Neverusecooktopasa work surfaceor
cuttingboard,
_-- Never cook food directly on the sur-
face.
Never let a pan boil dry as this will
permanentlydamagethe surfaceand
pan.
Neverusefoil-typedisposable contain-
ersor placea trivetor wokringbetween
the surfaceand pan. Theseitemscan
mark or etch thetop.
>- Do not slide aluminumpansacrossa
hotsurface.Thepansmayleavemarks
whichneedto be removedpromptly.

;_ Make sure the surface and the pan
bottom are clean beforeturningon to
preventscratches.
:_ To prevent s cratchingor damage to the
glass-ceramic top. do not leavesugar,
salt or fats on the cookingarea.Wipe
thecooktopsurfacewith acleanclothor
papertowel beforeusing.
Neverusea soileddishclothor sponge
tocleanthecooktopsurface.A film will
remainwhichmay causestainsonthe
cooking surfaceaftertheareaisheated.
