2. Disconnectsparkplug wireand groundagainstthe

engineto preventunintendedstarting.
3. Removelockingpin.
4. Returncylinderbackto original position.
5. Placelockingpin back intocylinderbaseto lock unit.

Before Each Use
1. Removetheoil plug and checkhydraulicfluid levelon
levelground.Maintainfluidlevelto just belowoil plug.
Refill if necessary.Approvedfluids includeDexron®
III, or 10 weightAWhydraulicoil.
2. Check engineoil level.Refill ifnecessary.
3. Fill up gasolineif necessary.
4. Lubricatethe beamarea wherecylinderwill slidewith
engineoil. Do notuse greaseto lubricate.Makesure
to lubricateboththe topand bottomof the beamface.
5. Attachsparkplug wireto thespark plug.
Using the Log Splitter
IMPORTANT: A lwaysoperateon levelground,otherwise
fluidmay be forced outthroughtheair vent hole.
1. Blockthe front and back of bothwheels.
2. Placethe log againstthe splittingwedge.Onlysplit
woodin thedirectionof the grain.
3. Stabilizelog, if needed,with yourleft hand on the
sideof thelog only.Never place hand on the end
between the log and the ram.
IMPORTANT: O nlyone adult shouldstabilizethe log and
operatethe hydraulicvalvecontrol,so theoperatorhas
full controloverthe log and the ram.
4. Movehydraulicvalvecontrol FORWARD until ram
toucheslog. Releasethe hydraulicvalve controlto
NEUTRALpositionto stopthe rammovement.See
Figure4-5.
5. Removeyourleft hand from log. Movehydraulicvalve
controlFORWARD to split log.
6. Movehydraulicvalve controlBACK to fully retractthe
ramto the locked position.

WARNING:Never remove partiallysplit
wood from the wedge with your hands.
Fingers may become trapped between
split wood.
