DURINGCLEANCYCLE
Whenthe LOCKindicatorlight is lit, the door
cannot be opened. To prevent damage to
door,do notforce dooropen whenthe LOCK
indicatorlight is lit.
Somesmokeand odor may be detectedthe
first few times the oven is cleaned. This is
normaland will lessen in time. Smoke may
also occur if oven is heavilysoiledor if broil-
er pan was left in oven.
As oven heats, you may hear sounds of
metal parts expandingand contracting.This
is normaland will not damageoven.
AFTERSELF-CLEANING
About one hour after theend of theclean
cycle, the LOCK indicatorword will turn
off.At thispoint,the doorcanbe opened.
Some soil may leave a light gray, powdery
ash which can be removed with a damp
cloth. If soil remains, it indicates that the
clean cycle was not long enough.The soil
will be removedduringthe next cleancycle.
If the ovenrackswereleft in the ovenand do
not slide smoothlyafter a clean cycle, wipe
racks and embossed rack supportswith a
smallamountofvegetableoil to restoreease
of movement.
A whitediscoloration may appearafterclean-
ing if acidicor sugaryfoods were not wiped
up beforethe cleancycle.This discoloration
is normaland will NOT affectperformance.
Finelinesmayappearin the porcelainresult-
ing fromthe heatingand coolingof thefinish.
This is normal and will not affect perform-
ance.
The first few times the oven is
cleaned, some smokeand odor may

lessenor disappearwith use. If the
oven is heavilysoiled,or if the broiler
pan was accidentallyleft in the oven,
excessive smoke and odor may
occur.
As theovenheatsand cools,youmay
hearsoundsof metalparts expanding
and contracting. This is normal and
will notdamageyour appliance.
Be sure appliance is off and all
parts are cool before handling or
cleaning. This is to avoid damage
and possible burns.

tion, clean appliance after each
use.

If a part is removed, be sure it is
correctly replaced.
BROILER PAN AND INSERT
Never cover insert withaluminumfoil as
this prevents the fat from drainingto the
pan below.
>- Placesoapyclothoverinsertand pan;let
soak to loosensoil.
> Wash in warm soapy water.Use scour-
ing pad to removestubbornsoil.
Broilerpan and insertcan be cleanedin
dishwasher.
BRUSHEDCHROME
(SELECT MODELS)
Whencool, washwith soapywater,rinse
and buffthe surface.
> For heavier soil, use a mild abrasive
cleaner such as baking soda or Bon
Ami*, rubbing with the grain to avoid
streakingthe surface.Rinseand buff.
To prevent scratching,do not use abra-
sive cleaners.
Torestorelusterand removestreaks,fol-
low with Stainless Steel Magic Spray*
(Part #20000008)**.Chrome will per-
manently discolorif soil is allowed to
bake on.
BURNER CAPS AND
SEALED GAS BURNERS
RemovableBurnerCaps
(SelectModels)
Allow burner to cool. Remove burner
cap and wash in soapy water with a
plasticscouringpad or in the dishwash-
er.Forstubbornsoils,cleanwith a soap-
filled, nonabrasive pad or Cooktop
Cleaning Creme (Part #20000001)**
and a sponge.
For burned-onsoil, place burnercap on
newspapersand spray with commercial
oven cleaner. Follow manufacturer's
directions.
Sealed Gas BurnerCaps
Clean frequently.Allow burner to cool.
Clean with soap and plastic scouring
pad. For stubborn soils, clean with a
soap-filled,nonabrasivepad.Try to pre-
vent the cleaner from seeping into the
gas ports as this will affect the flame. If
the cleaner does enter the ports, clean
with a soft bristlebrush or a straight pin,
especiallythe port belowthe ignitor. Do
not enlargeor distort holes.
Be careful not to get water into burner
ports.
Use care when cleaning the ignitor. If
the ignitor is wet or damaged the sur-
face burner will not light.
BURNERGRATES
PORCELAIN ON CAST IRON
Washgrateswith warm,soapywaterand
a nonabrasive,plastic scrubbing pad.
For stubborn soils, clean with a soap-
filled, nonabrasive pad or Cooktop
CleaningCreme (Part#20000001)** and
a sponge. If soil remains, reapply
CooktopCleaningCreme, cover with a
damp paper towel and soak for 30 min-
utes.Scrubagain,rinseand dry.
For burned on soils, remove grates,
placeon newspapers and carefullyspray
with commercialoven cleaner. (Do not
spray surrounding surfaces.) Place in
plastic bags for several hours or over-
night. Wearing rubber gloves, remove
from bags.Wash, rinse,dry and replace
on cooktop.
