> It is normal for parts of the range to
become hot during a clean cycle
> Avoid touching cooktop, door. win-
dow, or oven vent area during a
clean cycle.
> To prevent damage to oven door,
do not attempt to open the door
when the LOCK indicator word is
displayed.
> Do not use commercial oven
cleaners on the self-clean oven fin-
ish or around any part of the oven
as they will damage the finish or
parts.
The self-clean cycle uses above normal
cooking temperatures to automatically
cleanthe entireoven interior.
It is normalfor excessiveflare-ups,smoking
and flaming to occur during cleaning if the
oven is heavily soiled. It is better to clean
the oven regularly rather than to wait until
there is a heavy build-upof soil in the oven.
During the cleaning process, the kitchen
should be well ventilatedto help eliminate
normalodors associatedwith cleaning.
The cleaningtime can be varied depending
on the amount of soil. Press the appropri-
ate number padsto set any amountof time
betweentwo and four hours."2:00" hoursof
cleaningfor light soil, up to "4:00" hours of
cleaningfor heavy soil.
BEFORESELF-CLEANING
Turnoff the ovenlightbeforecleaningas the
light may burnout during the cleancycle.
Removebroiler pan, all pans and the oven
racks from the oven. The oven racks will
discolor and may not slide easily after a
self-clean cycle.
Clean oven frame,
door frame (area
outside the door
gasket) and around
the opening in the
door gasket with a
nonabrasive cleaning agent such as Bon
Ami* or detergent and water.These areas
are not exposed to cleaning temperatures
and should be cleanedto prevent soil from
bakingon duringthe clean cycle.
To prevent damage,do not clean or rub
the gasket around the oven door.The gas-
ket is designedto seal in heat during the
cleancycle.
Wipeup excessgreaseor spilloversfromthe
oven bottomto prevent excessivesmoking,
flare-upsor flamingduringthe cleancycle.
Wipeup sugaryandacidicspilloverssuch as
sweet potatoes, tomato or milk-based
sauces. Porcelainenamel is acid resistant,
not acid proof. The porcelain finish may
discolor ff acidic spills are not wiped up
prior to a self-cleancycle.
SETTINGTHECONTROLS
FORSELF-CLEAN
1. Close ovendoor.
2. PressClean pad.
CLEANwill flash and "--:--" will light
in the display.
If door has not been closed,"door"will
light in the display and a signal will
beep until the door is closed and the
Clean pad is pressedagain.
3. Press Preset (0) pad for "3:00"hours of
cleaningtimefor an averagesoiledoven.
Or, press the appropriatenumber pads
for the desired cleaning time between
two and four hours.
4. Foursecondsafter enteringthe cleaning
time, the oven door will automatically
lock.
> LOCKwillappear in the display.
> CLEANsymbol _
will appearin
the display.

When the cleaningtime has been com-
pleted, the indicator word CLEAN will
turn off. The indicatorword LOCKwill
remain on until the oven has cooled
(approx.1 hour).

Whenthe oven has cooled,the indicator
word LOCKwillturn off and the door will
automaticallyunlock.
TO CANCELSELF-CLEANCYCLE:
Press CANCELpad.
If the indicatorword LOCK is NOT dis-
played, open oven door. If LOCKis dis-
played, allow oven to cool, then open
ovendoor.
NOTE: Dependingon the lengthof time
the oven had been cleaning,it may take
up to an hour for the oven to cool down.
Whentheoven is cool, thedoor will auto-
maticallyunlockand can be opened.
IF YOU WISH TO DELAYTHE STARTOF
CLEANING:
1-3. Followprecedingsteps1-3.
4. Pressthe Stop Time pad.
>- StopTime will flash in the display and
displaywill show calculatedstop ti me
based on the current time of day and
the cleantime previouslyentered.
5. Press the appropriatenumber pads to
enterthe time you wish theovento stop.
Astop timecan onlybe acceptedfor later
in the day.
EXAMPLE: If at 9:00youset the ovento
cleanfor threehours,the calculatedstop
time wouldbe "12:00".
If youwant the stop time to be 1:00,
pressthe numberpads"1,0,0".Four
secondslater,the displaywill show
1:00and the indicatorword DELAY.

When the oven begins to clean, the
CLEANsymbolwill lightand DELAYwill
go off in the display.
Whenthe cleantime has been complet-
ed, the indicator word CLEAN will turn
off. The indicatorword LOCKwill remain
on until the oven has cooled.When the
oven has cooled, the indicator word
LOCKwill turnoff and the door will auto-
maticallyunlock.
