Because pair creation affects performance on the host, observe the following:
Create a pair when I/O load is light.
Limit the number of pairs that you create simultaneously.
When a pair is created, both LDEVs are allocated to the processor blade that the S-VOL was
allocated to before the pair was created.
WARNING!
The user is responsible for backing up the data on the T-VOLs before creating Business Copy Z
pairs.
Procedure 4 To create a pair
1.
Click Actions > Local Copy > Business Copy for Mainframe/Compatible FlashCopy > Pair

In the tree, select the CU image where the volumes to be S-VOLs are located.
Related volumes display in the volume list.

In the volume list, select the volumes that will be the S-VOLs. Make sure not to select reserved
volumes.
5.
Right-click your selection(s) and select Add Pair.
6.
In the Add Pair dialog box, verify that the desired S-VOLs display in the pair list. To remove
a volume, right-click and select Delete.
7.
Select the S-VOL that you want to pair.
8.
In Copy Pace, select the pace at which data is to be copied, Slower, Medium, or Faster. System
performance is affected by the pace you select, less so for Slower, more so for Faster.

Performing pair operations
The Business Copy Z paircreate operation overwrites all existing data on the T-VOL.
