_1_ Note on Scene Auto Selector Mode
Depending upon shooting conditions, the camera may not select the desired scene mode, Should
this occur, switch to I_1 (Auto) mode (_26) or choose the desired scene mode manually (_45),
[] Focusing in Scene Auto Selector Mode
• In scene auto selector mode, the camera detects and focuses on a face (see "Shooting with Face
Priority" (_91) for more information),
• When the shooting mode icon n is displayed or when _ (close up) mode is in use, the
camera will automatically focus on the area (one of nine) containing the subject closest to the
camera, This is similar to the Auto setting of AF area mode (_90).
[] Night Landscape Shooting in Scene Auto Selector Mode
When the setting is switched to _ (night landscape) in scene auto selector mode, the mood of the
night landscape is captured with a slow shutter speed (continuous shooting is not performed), unlike
Night landscape (_49) in scene mode, We recommend stabilizing the camera with a tripod.
• Set Vibration reduction ([]]_Q160) to Off when using a tripod to stabilize the camera during
shooting.
[] Note on the Flash
When the built in flash is lowered, the flash setting is fixed to offand @ appears at the top of the
monitor, In situations where flash is needed, such as in dark locations or when the subject is backlit,
be sure to raise the built in flash (_35).
[] Functions Available in Scene Auto Selector Mode
• Digital zoom is not available
• _AIJ[0{auto} {default setting) and @ {off) flash mode settings (_34/can be applied
When _AIlI_ (auto) is applied, the camera automatically chooses the optimum flash mode setting
for the scene mode it has selected. When _) (off) is applied, the flash does not fire, regardless of
shooting conditions,
• Self timer (_37) and exposure compensation (_41) settings can be adjusted,
