Exposure
compensation
is used toalter the exposure
from the value s uggested
by
the camera
tomake pictures
brighter ordarker.
1 Press[] (exposure
compensation)
onthe
multi selector.
• The e xposure
compensation
guide is displayed.
• Exposure
compensation
is not available
for M (manual)
mode.

multi
selector
to choose
the compensation
and press
the _)
button.
• To make the subject brighter: adjust the exposure
compensation
to the "+" side.
• To make the subject darker: adjust the exposure
compensation
to the .... side.
• Exposure compensation
can be set to values between
2.0 and +2.0 EV.
• When an exposure compensation
value other than 0.O is applied, the value is
displayed with the _
icon in the monitor.
• To cancd the exposure compensation
setting, change the value to O.0 and press the
_) button.

Press the
shutter-release
button
to take
the
picture.
• Pressing the shutter-release button instead of the _)
button in step 2 will allow pictures to be taken with the
specified exposure compensation
value, although the
face priority ([]]_91) will not be available.

For shooting
modes
P, S and
A,
the setting
for exposure
compensation
will be stored in the
camera's
memory
even after the camera
is turned
off.

Using
Exposure
Compensation
• The camera
tends to lower exposure
when the frame is dominated
by brightly
lit objects
(for
example,
sunlit expanses
of water, sand, or snow)
or when the background
is much brighter
than
the main subject,
Positive compensation
should
be used in such case.
• The camera
tends to raise exposure
when the frame is dominated
by very dark objects
(for
example,
a swath
of dark green leaves) or when the background
is much
darker tha n the main
subject,
Negative
compensation
should
be used in such case.
