Measurethe plug gap with a feelergauge.Correctas necessary

Checkthatthe sparkplug washeris in good conditionand thread
the sparkplug in by handto preventcross-threading.

After thespark plug is seated,tightenwith a spark plugwrenchto
compressthe washer.
NOTE:Wheninstalling a newsparkplug,tighten1/2-turn afterthe spark
plugseatstocompressthewasher.Whenreinstalling a usedsparkplug,
tighten1/8-to 1/4-turn afterthe sparkplugseatsto compress thewasher.
The sparkplug mustbe tightenedsecurely. A loosesparkplug can
becomevery hotand can damagethe engine.
Fuel Filter
Gasolineand its vaporsare extremelyflammableand explosive.Fire
or explosioncan cause severeburnsor death.
Keepgasolineawayfrom sparks,open flames,pilotlights,heat,
and otherignitionsources.
Checkfuellines, tank,cap, and fittingsfrequentlyfor cracks
or leaks.Replaceif necessary.Seea Searsor other qualified
servicedealerto replacefuel line.
Beforereplacingthe fuel filter,drain the fueltank or closethe fuel
shut-offvalve.
Replacement p arts mustbe the same and installedin the same
positionas the originalparts.
If fuelspills,wait until it evaporatesbeforestartingengine.

Pinchthe in-line clampon the fuel filter with a pairof pliers.

Slidethe clampup thefuel line.
4.
Pullthe fuel line freefrom the filter and placethe open end of the
line intoan approvedcontainerto drain the fuel.
To Replacethe Fuel Filter:
1.
Before replacing t hefuelfilter, d rainthefueltankor closethefuelshut-
off valve. O therwise, fuelcanleakoutandcause a fireor explosion.
2.
Usepliersto squeezetabson the clamps,thenslidethe clamps
awayfrom the fuelfilter.Twistand pull the fuel linesoff of thefuel
filter.Referto Figure26.
3.
Checkthe fuel linesforcracks or leaks.Replaceif necessary.
4.
Replace thefuel filterwithan originalequipment r eplacement filter.
5.
Securethe fuellineswith the clamps.
HYDROSTATIC
TRANSMISSION
The zeroturn ridingmoweris equippedwith dual integrated hydrostatic
pumps/transaxles that are sealedand are maintenance-free. Fluid
levelscannot be checkedand fluidcannot be added or changed.
TIRE MAINTENANCE
Checkthe tire air pressureafter every50 hoursof operationor weekly.
Keepthetires inflatedto the recommended pressures.Improperinfla-
tion will shortenthe tireservicelife. See the tire sidewallfor proper
inflationpressures.Observethe followingguidelines:
Donot inflatea tire abovethe maximumpressureshownon the
sidewallof the tire.
Donot reinflatea tire that has been runflat or seriouslyunder
inflated.Havea qualifiedtire mechanicinspectand servicethe
tire.
