HYDROSTATIC

Yourzeroturntractoris equippedwith dual integratedhydrostatic
pumps/transaxles that are sealedand are maintenance-free. However,
this modelis equippedwitha transmissionoil expansionreservoir.
Undernormaloperatingconditions,the oil levelin the expansion
reservoirdoes not needto be checkedand no additionaloil is needed.
If checkingthe reservoiroil level,proceedas follows:
Checkthe oil levelONLYbeforestartingthe tractorwhen the
transmission oil is fully cooled.

Pivotthe operator'sseatforwardand clean the reservoircapand
the areaaroundthe cap to preventdebrisfrom contaminating the
transmissionoil. See Figure29.

Turnthe reservoircapcounterclockwise to remove,thencheck
the oil levelin the reservoir.Oil shouldbe visibleat the bottomof
the cup, butthe oil level mustNOTbe abovethe "FULLCOLD"
line.See Figure29. DONOT FILLTHE RESERVOIR.

If necessary t oaddoil because d sometypeof leakage, usea quality
20W50motor oilandaddonlyenough oil tobringthelevel t othe"FULL
COLD" line.Reinstall thecapandfullytighten.
NOTE: Priorto the initialoperationd the tractor,the oil levelin the
reservoirmay be slightlyhigherthan the maximumdue to air in the
oil lines.Operationof thetractorwill eventuallypurgethe air fromthe
linesand the oil levelwill settleto the maximum.
LUBRICATION
Usinga pressurelubricatinggun, lubricateall greasefittings and points
as notedin the Lubrication Chart.
Lubricateall otherpivotpoints with a quality lubricatingoil as notedin
the Oil Chart.

INFORMATION
Should batteryacid accidentally splatterintothe eyesor ontothe
skin, rinsetheaffectedarea immediately with cleancold water.If
there isany furtherdiscomfort,seekpromptmedicalattention.If acid
spills on clothing,first diluteit with cleanwater,thenneutralizewith a
solutionof ammonia/water o r bakingsoda/water.
NEVER connect ( ordisconnect) battery charger c lipstothebattery while
thecharger i sturnedon,as itcancausesparks. K eep all sources of ignition
(cigarettes, matches, lighters) a way fromthebattery. T hegasgenerated
during charging canbecombustible. Asa further precaution, onlycharge
thebattery in a wellventilated a rea.Alwaysshield eyesandprotectskin
[andc othngwhenworkngnearbatteries.
Batteries c ontain sulfuric acidandmayemitexplosive gases.Useextreme
caution whenhandling batteries. K eep batteries outofthereachofchildren.

Spraythe terminalsand exposedwirewith a b.attery terminal
sealer,or coat the terminalswith a thincoat ot greaseor petro-
leumjelly, to protectagainstcorrosion.
Alwayskeepthe batterycablesand terminalscleanand free of
corrosion.
Avoidtipping.Evena sealedbatterywillleakelectrolyte whentipped.
Batteriescontain sulfuricacidand may emit explosivegases. Use
extremecautionwhen handlingbatteries.Keepbatteriesoutof the
reachof children.

Removal
Batteryposts,terminalsand relatedaccessoriescontainlead and
lead compounds. W ash handsafter handling.
The batteryis locatedon the right/rearof the tractorbeneaththe seat
boxframe.To removethe battery:

Removethe hold downstraps.

Remove!he hexcap screwand seresnut securingthe black
negativebatteryleadto the negativebatterypost-(marked NEG).
Movethe cableaway fromthe negativebatterypost.

Removethe hexcap screwand sernsnut securingthe red posi-
tive batterylead to the positivebatterypost (markedPOS).
7.
Carefullylift the batteryout of the tractor.
8.
Install t he batteryby repeating theabovestepsin the reverse order.
Alwaysconnectthe positivelead to the batterybeforeconnectingthe
Inegativelead.This will preventsparkingor possibleinjuryfrom an
| electricalshortcaused bycontactingthe tractorbodywith tools being
27_usedto connectthe cables.
