LUBRiCATiON
Usinga pressurelubricating gun, lubricate t he front castorwheel
axles andthe front pivot axlewith No.2 multipurposelithium
greaseafter every 10 hoursof service.
Periodicallylubricateall otherpivotpointswith a quality lubricat-
ingoil.

Shouldbatteryacidaccidentallysplatterinto theeyes or ontothe
skin, rinsethe affectedarea immediately with cleancold water.If
thereis any furtherdiscomfort,seek promptmedicalattention.If acid
spills on clothing,first diluteit with cleanwater,then neutralize with a
solutionof ammonia/water o r bakingsoda/water.
NEVER connect(ordisconnect) battery charger c lipstothebatterywhile
thecharger i s turned on,asitcancause sparks. K eepallsources ofignition
(cigarettes, matches, l ighters) awayfromthebattery. Thegasgenerated
during charging canbecombustible. Asa further precaution, onlycharge
thebattery ina wellventilated a rea.Always shieldeyesandprotect s kin
_and cothngwhenworkng nearbatter es.
Batteries contain sulfuric acidandmayemitexplosive g ases.Useextreme
caution whenhandling batteries. Keepbatteries outofthereachofchildren.

Maintenance
The batteryis filled with batteryacid and thensealedat the factory.
However, e vena "maintenance free" batteryrequiressome mainte-
nanceto ensureits properlife cycle.
Spraytheterminalsand exposedwire with a batteryterminalsealer,
or coat the terminalswith a thincoat of greaseor petroleumjelly, to
protectagainstcorrosion.
Alwayskeepthe batterycablesand terminalscleanand freeof
corrosion.
Avoidtipping. Evena sealedbatterywill leak electrolytewhentipped.

The batteryis locatedon the right/rearof the riding mowerbeneaththe
seat box frame.To removethe battery:
1.
Removethe two hextappingscrewsfrom thebatteryhold-down
bracketand removethe bracket.Usecareto avoidlosingthe trim
strip from the bottomof thebracket.See Figure28.

Removethe hexcap screwand seresnut securingthe black
negativebatteryleadto the negativebatterypost (markedMEG).
Movethecable awayfromthe negativebatterypost.
3.
Removethe hexcap screwand seresnut securingthe red posi-
tive batterylead to the positivebatterypost (markedPOS).
4.
Carefullylift the batteryout of the riding mower.
5.
Installthe batteryby repeatingthe abovestepsin the reverse
order.
Alwaysconnectthe positivelead to the batterybeforeconnectingthe
negativelead.This will preventsparkingor possibleinjuryfrom an
electricalshortcaused bycontactingthe ridingmowerbodywith toolsI
