iGNiTiON SWITCH
Theignition switchis locatedon
the RH consoleto the rightof the
operator'sseat.Theignitionswitch
hasthree positions.
STOP_ -- Theengine and electri-
cal systemis turnedoff.
RUN_ I
RUN_ -- The ridingmowerelectricalsystemisenergized.
START_ -- The startermotorwill turn overtheengine.Releasethe
key immediately whenthe enginestarts
NOTE:Topreventaccidentalstartingand/or batterydischarge,
removethe key from the ignition switchwhenthe ridingmowerisnot
in use.
POWER TAKE-OFF (PTO) SWITCH
The PTOswitchislocatedon the RH consoleto the rightof the opera-
tor's seat.The PTOswitchoperatestheelectric PTOclutchmounted
on the bottomof theengine crankshaft.Pullthe switchknobupward
to engagethe PTOclutch,or pushtheknob downward to disengage
the clutch.The PTOswitch mustbe in the "disengaged" positionwhen
startingthe engine.
TRANSMiSSiON BYPASS RODS
Thetransmissionbypassrods(one for eachthe RH and LH transmis-
sion)are locatedbeneaththe frame platform, j ustinside each rear
wheel.
Whenengaged,the two rodsopen a bypasswithinthe hydrostatic
transmissions, w hich allowsthe ridingmowerto be pushedshort
distancesby hand.Referto the Assemblysectionfor instructions on
usingthe bypassfeature.
Nevertow yourridingmower. T owing the ridingmowerwiththe rear
wheelson the groundmaycauseseveredamageto thetransmissions.
SEAT ADJUSTMENT LEVER
Theseat adjustmentleveris locatedbelowthefront!leftof the seat.
Theleverallowsfor adjustmentof the foreto aft positionof the
operator'sseat.Referto Serviceand Maintenance for instructionson
adjustingthe seat position.
FUEL TANK CAP
Thefuel tank cap islocatednearthe middleof the LH console.Turn
the fill capapproximately 1/4turnand pull upwardto remove.The fuel
cap istetheredto the ridingmowerto preventitsloss.Do notattempt
to removethe cap from the ridingmower.
Pushthecap downwardon the fuel tank fill neckand turnapproxi-
mately1/4turn clockwiseto tightenAlwaysre-installthe fuelcap tightly
ontothe fueltank after removing.
Neverfill the fueltank whenthe engineis running.If the engineis
hotfrom recentlyrunning,allowto coolfor severalminutesbefore
refueling.Highlyflammablegasolinesplashingontoa hot engine
couldcausea fire.
HOUR METER/INDICATOR
PANEL
Thehourmeter/indicator panel i s located on the
LHconsole totheIdt oftheoperator's s eat.
Hour Meter Features
The hourmeterrecords the hoursthat the
ridingmowerhasbeenoperatedinthe digital
display(tenthsof an hour-- rightmostdigit).
NOTE:Thehour meteris activatedwhenever the ignitionswitchis
turnedto the RUN_ position.Keepa recordof the actual hoursof
operationto assureall maintenanceprocedures are completedaccord-
ing to the instructionsin this manualand the enginemanual.
Whenkey is turnedto the RUN_ position,the batteryindicatorlight
brieflyilluminatesand the batteryvoltageis brieflydisplayed.The
displaythen changesto the accumulated hours.
TheIndicator M onitor willalsoremind theoperatord maintenance i nter-
valsforchanging theengineoil.TheLCDwillalternately flash,CHG;OIL
andthe recorded hoursforfive minutes afterevery50 hoursof recorded
operation. T hemaintenance i nterval l astsfortwo hours(from50-52,100-
102,150-152, etc.).The LCDwillflashasdescribed forfiveminutes every
timethe ridingmower's engineis startedduringthismaintenance i nterval.
Follow theoil changeintervals provided in theenginemanual.

Battery Indicator
Illuminates and the batteryvoltageis displayedbrieflywhenthe ignition
switchit turnedto the RUN_ position.
Illuminates to indicate the batteryvoltagehasdroppedbelow11.5(+0.5/-
1.0)volts,andthe voltageis displayed on the hourmeter.If thisindicator
and displaycomeon duringoperation, c heckthe batteryandcharging
systemforpossiblecausesand/orcall 1-800-659-5917 to schedule
ridingmowerinspectionservicefrom SearsParts & Repair.
Oil PressureIndicator (if Engine So Equipped)
Thiswarninglampindicates lowengine oil pressure, i f theindicator c omes
on whiletheengineis running, s toptheengineimmediately a nd checkfor
possible causes.Donotruntheenginewhilethisindicator isilluminated.

NOTE:Theoil_ressureindicatormayilluminate whenthe ignitionswitch
isin the RUNO position,butshouldturnoff whentheengineis started.
PTOEngaged Indicator
This indicator illuminates whenthe PTOswitchis pulledupwardin the
ENGAGED positionandthe ignitionswitchis turnedtothe START
position.Checkthis indicator if theenginewillnotcrankwith theignition
switchin the START _ position.If necessary, m ovethe PTOswitchto
the DISENGAGED position.
ParkingBrake Engaged Indicator
This indicatorilluminateswhenthe parkingbrakeis in the DISEN-
GAGEDpositionand the ignitionswitchis turnedtothe START
position.Checkthis indicatorif the enginewill not crankwith the
ignitionswitchin the START_ position.If necessary,move the
parkingbraketo the ENGAGED position.
This indicatoralsoilluminateswhenthe ignitionswitchis turnedto the
START _ positionand the RH and/or LHdrivecontrol leversare in
a positionotherthanthe fully out in neutralposition.Movethe control
leversfully outward.
