Workpiece strikes riving knife dur-
ing ripping
Workpiece binds, smokes, and
motor slows or stops when ripping
Possible Cause(s)
Riving knife not in line with blade
Saw blade out of alignment
Warped workpiece
Feed rate too fast
Carriage assembly loose
Fence not straight
Dull or incorrect blade
What to Do
Align riving knife to blade
Re-align
Do not cut severely warped pieces
Slow teed rate
Adjust carriage bearings, then
realign saw
Replace fence
Sharpen or replace blade
Board pulls away ti-om fence dur-
