5-5 Solving Paper or Other Substrate Problems

Try this:
• If the light is flashing, the ink supply is low. Make sure you have a replacement
cartridge.
• If the light is on, the cartridge is empty; replace the cartridge following the
instructions on page 4-3.
• Check the voltage rating on the back of your printer. If it doesn't match your
outlet's voltage, turn off your printer and unplug it immediately. Contact
EPSON as described in the Introduction.
• Turn off the printer, open the cover, and check inside for pieces of paper or
foreign objects.
• Turn off the printer, wait five seconds, and turn it on again. If the lights still
flash or stay on, contact EPSON as described in the Introduction.
• Wait until the printer finishes testing and cleaning the print head before you
print. If the printer has been turned off for a while (for example, over the
weekend), it performs a longer cleaning cycle before printing. This can take
several minutes; do not turn off the printer during this process.
Solving Paper or Other Substrate Problems
You can avoid most paper handling problems by doing the following:
• Use smooth, high-quality substrates designed for ink jet printers, and make sure they
meet the specifications in Appendix B.
• Make sure the paper or other substrate is dry and flat before loading it.
• Follow all loading and handling instructions included with the paper or other
substrate and in Chapter 2.
