Using the 16:9
Enhanced Feature
The 16:9 Enhanced
feature provides enhanced
picture resolution,
which allows you to watch
widescreen
pictures
that have been stretched
in the
vertical direction,
such as certain DVD titles, at their
original
16:9 aspect ratio.
Note
The 16:9 Enhanced
feature
is available
only when the TV is set
to Video
1 o1"Video 2, which you can do by pressing
the TV/
VIDEO
button (See page 27).
Tip
The "aspect
ratio" is the ratio of width to height of the screen.
16:9 is also referred
to as widescreen
format.
Original
Picture
• Wide screen video camera or
DVD picture
• DTV 16:9 aspect ratio picture
16:9 Enhanced
Picture
Compressed
vertically
and
displayed
on the screen at
its original
16:9 aspect
ratio.
However,
black bands
appear at the top and
bottom of the picture.

Option
Description

the 16:9 Enhanced
feature.
This setting returns
to "Auto"
automatically
when you change
the
video input.
Auto
Activates
the 16:9 Enhanced
feature
automatically
when a 16:9 aspect
ratio
signal is received.
Tips
• lfthe TVdoes not automatically
detect the 16:9aspect
ratio
signal when "16:9 Enhanced" is set to "Auto," select "On" to
turn on the 16:9 Enhanced feature.
• To use the 16:9 Enhanced feature with widescreen DVDs, set
the TV's aspect ratio to 16:9 on your DVD player.
