Lights
The lights on the front of the printer indicate the printer status,
such as receiving data, paper jam, or ink is low. The following
table describes what the lights mean.

o = on, n = off, f = flashing, - = irrelevant
Function
Loads and ejects paper.
Starts charging ink (after you finish the ink cartridge
replacement procedure).
Turns the printer on and off.
Clears the print buffer if pressed twice while the
power is on.
Cleans the black print head if pressed for about three
seconds. Starts the black ink cartridge replacement
procedure if pressed while the B ink out light is flashing
or on. This button is located inside the printer cover.
Cleans the color print head if pressed for about three
seconds. Starts the color ink cartridge replacement
procedure if pressed while the A ink out light is flashing
or on. This button is located inside the printer cover.
Printer Status
Receiving data, replacing an ink cartridge,

charging ink, or cleaning print heads.
Paper out. Load paper in the sheet feeder; then

press the
load/eject button to resume printing.
Paper jam. Remove the jammed paper, then
reload paper and press the
-
to resume printing.
Ink low. The black ink cartridge is nearly empty.

Ink out. The black ink cartridge is empty.

Replace the black ink cartridge (S020108).
Ink low. The color ink cartridge is nearly empty.
-
Ink out. The color ink cartridge is empty.
-
Replace the color ink cartridge (S020089).
