Symptom
The carriage does
not operate normal-
on.
(after the carriage
has been manually
centered prior to
power on).
Printing is not
performed.

Condition
The carrige motor
rotates, but the
carriage does not
move.
The carriage
moves to the left
slightly and then
stops.
The carriage
moves to the left
or right end, and
then stops.
The carriage
moves, but no
printing is

Cause
The pulley is
defective.
The timing belt is
defective.
Carriage move-
ment is not
smooth.
The encoder is
defective.
The ink end sensor
is defective.
The head cable is
disconnected.
The printhead is
defective.
Ink absorption is
poor.
Checkpoint
Check for broken
or worn pulley.
Check that the tim-
ing belt is properly
inserted into the
bottom of carriage.
Check the timing
belt for any
damage.
Check whether the
carriage moves
smoothly when
moved manually.
Check tension of
the timing belt.
Check the ink-end
sensor with a
tester.
Check the head ca-
ble for
disconnection.
Replace the print-
head to see if the
normally.
