Decreasing the Melody Volume of a Song (Guide)

The "Guide" function lets you decrease the volume of the melody of an internal song or SMF music
files. Using this function, you can decrease the melody to a lower (but still audible) level, helping you
to learn the melody while you sing along.
Once you're confident of the melody, you can use the Mute function (p. 111) to completely cancel the
melody while you sing.

1.
Prepare the song that you want to play.
If you're playing back SMF music files from a CD-ROM or USB memory, insert the CD-ROM into the CD
drive (p. 72) or connect your USB memory to EXT MEMORY connector (p. 76).
2.
Select the song you want to sing (p. 70, p. 72, p. 76, p. 85).
3.
Press the [GUIDE] button so it's lit.
The Guide function is turned on.
4.
Press the [PLAY/STOP] button to play back the song.
When the song plays back, the volume of the melody will be temporarily lowered.
Go ahead and sing the melody while you listen to the song. The melody will be heard at a lower
volume, so you can use it as a guide for your singing.
5.
Press the [PLAY/STOP] button to stop playback.
6.
To cancel the Guide function, press the [GUIDE] button to turn off its
illumination.
When you play back the song, the melody will return to its original volume.

The [GUIDE] button won't work with a music CD and an audio/MP3 format song.
The melody channel will depend on the song. If the volume of the melody does not
decrease when you press the [GUIDE] button, change the melody channel setting (p. 173).
