3 BIOS Update

Introduction

This section applies to all HP NetServers described in this guide. After upgrading
the processor module(s) or adding a processor module to a NetServer, the BIOS
may require updating.

Updating the BIOS

After installing the new processor module(s), restart the NetServer from the
HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM provided with the new processor module.
NOTE
CAUTION
Perform the following instructions to ensure the BIOS is up-to-date.
1. Restart the NetServer with the HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM provided
with the processor upgrade kit inserted in the CD-ROM drive.
When you restart the HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM, you may see a
message similar to the one listed below:
You are not required to use the HP NetServer Navigator
CD-ROM to reconfigure your system after installing the new
processor. The NetServer should detect the new or additional
processors automatically. However, HP recommends using the
HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM provided with the processor
upgrade kit to ensure you have the latest drivers and
information.
Versions of the HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM other than
the one provided with the upgrade kit may not contain the
appropriate BIOS for these new processor modules. Therefore,
use only the HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM provided with
the upgrade kit, or a later version for the HP NetServers
described in this guide.
