When a repaired file can't be returned to its original location

Select the file in the Quarantine listing.

Do one of the following:
Right-click the file, and then click Clean.
In the right pane on the toolbar, click Clean.

Click Start Clean.
The file is scanned again with the new definitions and replaced in its
original location.
Occasionally, a clean file does not have a location to which to be returned. For
example, an infected attachment may have been stripped from an email and
placed in the Quarantine. In this special circumstance, the cleaned file is placed
in Repaired Items instead. You must release the file and specify a location.
To release a cleaned file from Repaired Items

In Symantec AntiVirus, in the left pane, click View.

In the right pane, click Repaired Items.

Right-click the file, and then click Restore.

Specify the location for the cleaned file.
