Configuring the SNMP Trap Module
Configuring the SNMP Trap Module
This module configures the parameters used by the Network Sensor when it sends SNMP traps to
SNMP servers. When the sensor creates an SNMP trap, it can select a particular IP address to show
up in the SNMP record. This IP address can be different from the interface from which the sensor
sends the SNMP traps, which is useful if a particular IP address is required for recognition.
The SNMP traps sent by the sensor contain data similar to what is printed out in the one-line
mklog format.
Procedure
To configure the SNMP Trap Module parameters:
1.
Click the Network Policy View icon, and then the Network Policies tab.
2.
Expand the tree by clicking on the expansion symbol and selecting the custom policy name.
The modules for that policy are displayed in the tree.
3.
Click the SNMP Trap Module in the tree.
4.
Check the Enable SNMP Trap checkbox to enable the Network Sensor to send SNMP Traps.
5.
Enter an SNMP Agent IP Address, if desired, and select the appropriate IP version checkbox.
When the Network Sensor creates an SNMP trap, it can select a particular IP address to show
up in the SNMP record. This IP address can be different from the interface it is sending the
SNMP traps from. This is useful if a particular IP address is required for recognition. If you do
not enter a value, the default value of 0.0.0.0 is used.
6.
Enter a Community String, if desired. This field defines the SNMP community string used by
the Network Sensor when sending SNMP traps. The default is public.
