Static concerns

The Nortel Ethernet Routing Switch 8300 Series modules are sensitive to
static electricity. Static discharge from your clothing or other fixtures around
you, even at levels that do not create a spark, can cause damage.
To prevent static discharge damage when you work with Nortel Ethernet
Routing Switch 8300, place each module on a grounded antistatic mat until
you are ready to install it. If you do not have an antistatic mat, wear a
discharge leash or wrist strap to free yourself of static before you touch a
module. You can also free yourself of static by touching the metal chassis
before you handle the module.
