When the PCMCIA card is removed from the master CPU, a trap is
generated and system logging continues in DRAM only.
Logging system messages to the PCMCIA card
To begin or stop logging system messages on the PCMCIA card, use the
following command:
config log logToPCMCIA
config log logToPCMCIA
followed by:
true
false
Configuring the syslog facility using CLI
The syslog facility in UNIX machines logs messages and assigns each
message a severity level based on importance.

Replace <str> with the file name of the file stored in the
remote host. If not configured, the current log file name
is the default.
If this option is set, the previously transferred log file is
overwritten on the remote server.
Nortel recommends that you not set this option.
Shows the configured IP address and the file name for the
remote host.
Removes the IP address configured by the user and sets it
to the default (0.0.0.0).
Begins logging system messages on the PCMCIA card.
The following message is returned: Logging to PCMCIA
STARTED.
Begins logging system messages on the PCMCIA card.
The following message is returned: Logging to PCMCIA
STOPPED.
WARNING
Before removing the Personal Computer Memory Card
International Association (PCMCIA) card from your master CPU,
you must stop logging using the preceding command. Failure to
do so can corrupt the file system on the PCMCIA card and cause
your log file to be permanently lost.
