Never lift or move the unit during recording or playback. Discs rotate at a high
speed and may be damaged or damage the optics within the chassis.

On-Screen Messages

The following chart provides message which may appear on-screen.
Message
Initializing disc. Please wait a moment.
XX seconds before recording stops.
Please wait a moment.
You cannot record on this disc. Undo
the finalization.
Any of the following:
Cannot play because the disc is
incompatible.
You cannot record on this disc.
Cannot read CPRM information.
Cannot prepare for recording.
Could not record information to disc.
Cannot edit.
Could not initialize disc.
Could not finalize successfully.
Could not undo finalization
successfully.
Could not cancel the disc protection
setting successfully.
This source is copy-protected.
Either of the following:
Cannot record because the disc is
not CPRM compatible.
This source cannot be recorded with
the Video mode.
Incorrect CPRM information.
PRV-9000 Operating Instructions
Explanation / Action
Loading a blank DVD-RW disc causes
the recorder to initialize the disc first.
In Video mode, recording is in 30-
second blocks. When sending a Stop
command, the unit continues recording
until reaching the end of the block.
The disc, finalized on a non-Pioneer
recorder, must be un-finalized before
editing or recording may being..
The disc may be dirty or damaged.
Take out the disc, clean it and retry.
If the error persists, use a new disc.
If the error appears with the new disc
as well, please contact a Pioneer
Service Center.
The video source is copy-protect and
may not be recorded.
This video source is copy-once
protected. Use DVD-RW (VR format)
disc with CPRM for recording.
The recorder failed to read the CPRM
information. Check with a Pioneer
Service Center for assistance.
