This manual is written to help you understand safe operating procedures and problems that can be encountered by the operator and other personnel when using this equipment. Read and save these instructions. As owner or operator, you are responsible for understanding the requirements, hazards, and precautions that exist and to inform others as required.

The symbols alert the user of potential safety hazards, prohibited activities and mandatory actions. To help you recognize this information, we use the symbols that are defined below. Safety Install and Operate Electrical Equipment Properly • The electrical connections and grounding of the appliance shall be in compliance with the National Electric Code ANSI/NFPA 70 for the United States or the Canadian Electrical Code for Canada, as well as all local and state codes.

Safety Install and Operate Gas-Fired Equipment Properly • Gas-fired equipment should be installed by a qualified pipe fitter and must conform with local codes. • For Canada: The equipment shall be installed in accordance with the Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code, CSA B149.1, or the Propane Storage and Handling Code, CSA B149.2, or applicable provincial regulations, which should be carefully followed in all cases.

Installation must conform with local, state, and national codes, or in the absence of local codes, with the Standard for the Storage and Handling of CAUTION Liquefied Petroleum Gases, in accordance with ANSI/NFPA 58 and/or the National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1, as applicable.

  • Page 14 3. Installation Hanging the Heater Chain Suspension Mount the heater with chain hooks and chains so that the back of the heater is at least 12" (305 mm) from the ceiling and wall. The heater must be a minimum of 20" (500 mm) from floor, and located so that livestock and combustible materials are unable to come in contact with heater or within 10' (3 meters) of the hot air discharge.
  • Page 15 3. Installation Outside Mount (Optional) Heaters are available with Outside Mount (OSM) kits. These heaters are designed to be mounted to the outside wall of a building. This saves valuable space inside the building and ensures fresh air intake for the heater.

Slide thru-wall extension duct assembly (6) into flange, and secure with sheet metal screws. 11. Place outer flashing seal (13) around thru-wall extension duct (6) and secure with sheet metal screws to the inside of the wall.

  • Page 18 4. User Instructions Before turning ON gas, check main supply valve to be sure it is open. Be sure to check (See Figure 4A.) all connections for leaks with a Gas Leak Testing solution, (soap and water work well). Check to see if gas valve knob is in the ON position.
