Connect the USB cable
To an internal USB 2.0 port (as in many ProLiant servers)
1.
Use the schematic on the inside of the server panel to check whether your server has an internal
USB 2.0 port and locate its position.

Use the cable supplied with the tape drive to connect to the server.
• If your server has a standard USB port, use a standard USB cable. You can use the supplied
standard USB cable and cable ties to tidy excess cable length.
• If your server has a 4-pin USB port, use the supplied, special, 4-pin USB cable, as illustrated
in
Figure 9
the USB port.

To an external USB 2.0 port
Use the standard USB cable and Cable Routing Kit supplied with the tape drive. The Cable Routing Kit
consists of a bracket with attached cable on one side that connects to the server's external port and a
Type A USB socket on the other side. Make sure you orientate the bracket correctly when you fit it,
see
Figure 10

Remove a spare blanking plate from the rear panel of the server.

Fit the bracket with the attached cable and fix it to the server. Make sure the cable is outside of the
server and connect it to the server's external USB port, as illustrated in

Attach the standard USB cable to the other side of the bracket (Type A connector), as illustrated in
Figure 10
on page 25. Select the 4-pin cable that is appropriate for the pin layout on
