Which operating systems are supported?
HP StorageWorks DAT USB drives can be connected to servers running under Microsoft Windows Server
2000, Server 2003, XP Professional and Linux Kernels 2.6.x. Refer to the HP StorageWorks Tape
Software Compatibility topic on our World Wide Web site (http://www.hp.com/go/connect/) for the
most recent information about the operating system versions that are supported.
How do I connect the drive to my server?
For optimum performance the drive should be connected to a USB 2.0 port and it should be the only
device on the USB bus. Although the tape drive will function on USB 1.1, performance will be severely
degraded. See also
USB cables are supplied with your tape drive.
For internal drives, the USB 2.0 connection may be via an internal port on the server's system board (as
in many newer ProLiants servers) or an external port on the server's rear panel.
