Receiving messages

When your phone is turned on and is in an area
of wireless coverage, you automatically receive
new text messages. For multimedia messages,
you can set your smartphone to automatically
download new messages or to notify you that a
message is ready to be downloaded (see
Customizing your Messaging settings). You can
also configure how your smartphone notifies
you when a new message arrives (see Selecting
Messaging alert tones).
The new message alert may include any of the following buttons:
Dismisses the alert and places the message in your Inbox.
OK:
Opens the Chat View, where you can reply with a text
Reply:
message. To send an MMS reply, select Add Media from the Chat
View.
Dials the sender's phone number.
Call Back:
Opens the message so you can view its full contents.
Go To Msg:
Moves the message from your Inbox to the Deleted folder.

Tip
If you have multiple
alerts, the Alert screen
displays all your
pending alerts. Select
an item's description
to jump to that item, or
check the box to clear
that item. To view all
your pending alerts
from any screen on
your smartphone,
press and hold Center
on the 5-way.
Did You Know?
You can send and
receive text messages
even while you are on
a phone call. This is
easiest when using a
hands-free headset or
the speakerphone.
Tip
When you receive a
message, you can also
press Send to call the
sender.
