key
This command sets the keys used for WEP encryption. Use the no form to delete a
configured key.
Syntax
key <index> <size> <type> <value>
no key index
• index - Key index. (Range: 1-4)
• size - Key size. (Options: 64, 128, or 152 bits)
• type - Input format. (Options: ASCII, HEX)
• value - The key string.
- For 64-bit keys, use 5 alphanumeric characters or 10 hexadecimal digits.
- For 128-bit keys, use 13 alphanumeric characters or 26 hexadecimal
digits.
- For 152-bit keys, use 16 alphanumeric characters or 32 hexadecimal
digits.

Command Usage
• To enable Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP), use the auth shared-key
command to select the "shared key" authentication type, use the
encryption command to enable data encryption, use the key command to
configure at least one key, and use the transmit-key command to assign a
key to one of the VAP interfaces.
• If you enable Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA/WPA2) with a pre-shared key
option, use the encryption command to enable data encryption, use the
key command to configure at least one key, and use the transmit-key
command to assign a key to one of the VAP interfaces.
• If WEP or WPA/WPA2 with a pre-shared key option is enabled, all wireless
clients must be configured with the same shared keys to communicate with
the access point.
