Material Station
The Material Station is an integrated part of the UltiMaker Factor 4 and is engineered as a complete sub-module.
The Material Station contains the interior assembly with material bays and interface, the prefeeders, and
electronics.
Although it is a complex assembly, removing the Material Station module is quick and simple. The entire system
can be taken out of the machine in minutes. When the Material Station needs repair work, this can be done
outside the printer for better access to components. In case of an issue, swap the complete Material Station for a
replacement module for minimal downtime.

Notes
Some components must be disconnected. Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cable before
starting this procedure.
During this process, sensitive electronic components will be exposed. Make sure not to touch the mainboard
at the back of the printer, or take ESD measures just in case to prevent damaging the PCBA.
To remove the Material Station, you need at least 650 mm of clearance behind the printer.
If the printer must be moved or rotated to get access to the back and reach the required clearance, take the
appropriate safety precautions.
Before starting this procedure, prepare a surface to place the Material Station on after removal. The surface
must be flat, stable, and at least 550 x 300 mm.
Ensure that no materials are still loaded to the print head. For the greatest ease of use, remove all material
spools from the Material Station before starting.
Tip: With the UltiMaker Factor 4 Service plan, a hot swap service is included. Simply remove the old Material
Station module, install the replacement module, and place the old Material Station in the packaging that the
replacement came in for reduced downtime and quick return shipment.
