The following represents a discussion of the various areas of the crawler undercarriage where
periodic inspection and corrective action can make your machine more productive with less down
time:
TRACK SHOE BOLT TORQUE
Experience has proven that it is important to fasten the
track shoes to the chain using a torque wrench and
applying the torque as follows:
Bolt
Diameter Torque (Pound-Foot)
5/8"
Keep this hardware tight, as loose bolts lead to bolt
snapping and lost shoes. Loose hardware will wear out
the bolt holes of the shoes and links and make these
parts useless.
HOW TO GET LONG LIFE
FROM YOUR UNDERCARRIAGE
Regular checking is necessary to keep the undercar-
riage in a shape that will give best productivity. In order
to help you obtain maximum satisfaction, we are
outlining some of the maintenance procedures which
if followed, will give maximum use of the crawler.
225 to 275 (lubricated)
SHOE BOLT
The track shoe bolt nuts should be installed
with the flat face of the nut facing in.
A few spare bolts should be carried by the owner as a
part of his emergency kit.
