G-660C & G-880C GRADALL (Crawler)
At the front of each side frame, we have the track idler
roller. It elides on pads in each frame. To keep the
tracks taut, a heavy spring can be compressed using a
grease cylinder.

Each track can be tightened using a grease gun and
common lube grease. A button type adapter is furn-
nished in the Gradall tool kit so that the common
grease gun can be used.
If it becomes necessary to loosen the tracks, the
grease can be expelled from the cylinder by backing
off on the adjusting fitting. Back the fitting off slowly
until grease is observed flowing out around the
threads. Then when the proper amount is expelled,
retighten the fitting.
This shows a cross section of the idler rollers used on
each side frame. Although they are sealed units, there
are provisions for adding lube. A fill plug is provided. It
may be necessary to remove the tracks to get to the fill
plug. Using a 5 mm allen wrench, remove the plug and
fill with SAE 30 or 40 oil. The G-660C takes .71 pints
and the G-880C takes 1 pint.
