TRACTOR STORAGE

Tractors that are to be stored for an exten ded
period sho u l d be protected d u ri ng storage. The
a
fo l l owing is suggested l i st of operat ions to be
ca rried out.
1 . Th orough l y clean the tracto r. Use to uch-up
pa i n t where necessary to p revent rust.
2. Check the tracto r fo r wo rn or damaged
pa rts. I nsta l l n ew parts as req u i red .
3 . Raise the l ift arms h y d ra u l i ca l l y to thei r
fu l l y ra ised positi on so the l ift p isto n is i n a
fu l l y extended positi o n . Th is fi l l s the cy l i n der
with oil and wi l l protect th
su rfaces from corrosio n .
4 . L u b r i cate the tracto r. D ra i n and ref i l l the
transm iss i o n , hydra u l i c system and rea r a x l e
with new oi l . Dra i n t h e eng i ne o i l a n d refi l l
with new l u b ricat i ng o i l . Also cl ean the a i r
c l eaner.

5. I f the tracto r
operation for an extended period , spec ia l
preca u t i ons shou l d be ta ken to protect the
fuel i njection p u m p and the injecto r nozz les
agai nst corros ion and g u m m i n g d u ri ng the
storage per i o d .

Before sto ri n g, the fuel system shou ld be
f l ushed wit h a spec i a l o i l , a q uant ity of
wh ich w i l l re main in the system when the
e n g i n e is shut down for storage .

6. Dra i n the rad iator a n d en g i n e b l oc k . F l ush
the system , cl ose the d ra i n va l ves, and f i l l
with a 50/50 so l ut i o n of permanent a n t i f reeze
and c l ea r water.
7. Remove the battery and c lea n it t h o ro ug h l y .
B e sure that i t i s f u l l y cha rged , a n d that the
el ectro l yte is at the pro per l eve l . P l ace it i n
sto rag e in a coo l , d ry pl ace a bove freez ing
tem perature. The battery sh o u l d be charged
pe riod i ca l l y d u r i ng sto rage .
8. Place b l oc k i n g u n der the tractor a x l es to re­
move the weight from the ti res.
Cover the exhaust p i pe open i ng .
