    General Product Information The OptiSheath® Advantage aerial terminal for WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) applications is designed for the aerial access network. The terminal is used to provide a protected environment for connectivity of subscribers’ drop cable. The terminal provides up to eleven ports for optical access architectures — up to eight drops for the businesses, one drop for the 1310 node cable (purchased separately), and two entries for expressed distribution cable.

  • Page 7: Installing Preconnectorized Distribution Cable

    Installation of strain-relief brackets prevents pistoning or bowing of central strength members, as well as cable sheath slipping or pullout. You will be required to strain-relieve the cables in this procedure. When instructed to strain-relieve a cable, refer to this section for the directions on doing so. Step 1: Place a hose clamp over the cable and bracket as shown in Figure 4.

    Storing Cable Slack IMPORTANT: Make sure the routing clips are oriented with the opening in the clips toward the outside of the terminal to ensure the fibers remain inside the clips. Step 1: Route the preconnectorized distribution fibers in a counterclockwise direction beneath the flange in the slack storage area, then store two loops of slack in the routing clips above the flange (Figure 9).

    Step 6: Replace end cap (Figure 13) and securely hand-tighten screws (recommended torque value of 23 in-lb). IMPORTANT: To avoid damage to the screws, do not overtighten. Step 7: Attach the cables to the external strain-relief bracket using cable ties (Figure 13). Step 8: Repeat Section 9 to install additional drop cables.

    Testing can verify the performance of the circuit from the terminal back to the central office or to any termination points in between. Contact Corning Optical Communications’ customer care at 1-800-743-2671 for testing procedures. Maintenance and Repair Procedures 13.1 Maintain the Terminal No routine maintenance of this product is required to keep it in operational order.
