Setting Passwords

Setting Passwords
Your PC has two types of passwords:
BIOS passwords.
You can set two passwords, the Administrator password and the
User password, to provide two levels of protection for your PC. You
set both passwords via the
Software passwords.
Operating systems such as Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 95 have a
password facility. Refer to your operating system documentation for
more information.

Using BIOS Passwords

You can only set a User password if you have already set an
Administrator password. Both User and Administrator passwords can
be used as power-on passwords or to protect the PC's setup
configuration (via the Setup program). If passwords have been set, to
have full access to the configuration settings in the PC's Setup
program, you must use the Administrator password. The User
password provides only limited access.
The
Password Check
the PC checks for passwords every time you start the PC, or only when
you attempt to access the Setup program.
