Performance Considerations For Third-Party Bacnet Devices; Installing The Ceg Panel; Installing The Tmr - Johnson Controls CEG Series Technical Bulletin

• If you use TMR wireless options, consider where you can place the panel to limit the number of
hops and distance between wireless endpoints.
• Cellular communication for streaming out data. You can use your own cellular device as a
rudimentary gauge to test the available signal. If your cellular device is unable to get a signal,
a cellular modem may also have trouble getting a signal.
• If you connect the CEG to York chillers with Smart Connected Equipment boards (SC-EQ),
ensure the SC-EQ all run on version 3.5.x.x or higher to ensure compatibility with CEG.

Performance considerations for third-party BACnet devices

Network performance can degrade when you add third-party devices on the same MS/TP trunk if
those devices do not meet the minimum requirements in Table 4. Actual job experience has shown
as few as five devices can create significant performance issues; although other variables can affect
performance, such as the number of objects per device. To improve network performance, ensure
that third-party devices also meet the preferred requirements.

Installing the CEG Panel

Refer to the CEG Panel Installation Guide (Part No. 24-11460-00050) and the TMR Installation Guide
(Part No. 24-11461-00020) for details about how to install the CEG.
Important: If you use TMR wireless with more than four chillers, install a second TMR
coordinator in the panel and configure the AREA and Personal Area Network (PAN) OFFSET to
be unique between the two networks.

Installing the TMR

About this task:
Refer to the TMR Installation Guide (Part No. 24-11461-00020) for the full details about how to install
the TMR.
