BASIC RECORDING
Preparations
Have the TV on and turned to the video channel or video input mode.
(See page 22.)
Set the COLOR SYSTEM setting to "AUTO
or to the color system of
the input source, (See page 30.)

Insert a cassette with its erasure prevention tab intact.
The power turns on automatically.
Press the TVNCR
button to select the VCR mode.
Press the REC SYSTEM (NTSC, PAL) button to select the
color system for recording.
Press the NTSC button for recording using the NTSC system. For
using the PAL system press the PAL button.
For details, see "SETTING THE REC SYSTEM" on page 44.
Select the recording speed.
Press the TAPE SPEED button on the remote control to select "SP,
',Lp,>or "~p
See "Selecting the recording speed" on page 62.
Select the channel to record.
Press the CHANNEL
DOWN/UP
V A button, or enter the channel
directly with the numeric buttons, then press the CH button.
Start recording.
Press
the two
REC/QTR
buttons
on the
remote
control
simultaneously.
Recording can also be started by pressing the
REC button on the
main unit.
To stop the recording, press the
STOP button.
To pause the recording
1 Press the II PAUSE/STILL
button.
The unit enters the recording pause mode.
2 To resume recording, press the
REC/QTR buttons on
the remote control or the
REC button on the main unit
again.
To prevent tape damage, avoid leaving the unit in the pause mode for a
long time. After 5 minutes, the unit automatically
switches to the stop
