Modem Security
The T3000 standalone modem supports both
callback and password security to protect the
connected Data Terminal Equipment (DTE) from
unauthorized access.
The T3000's telephone number directory holds up to
10 callback numbers and corresponding passwords.
In callback security, if the password entered by the
user corresponds to the password listed in the number
directory, the answering modem hangs up the
telephone, waits 10 seconds, and calls back the
appropriate number indexed in the directory.
Password security aiso requires the caiier to enter
their password before gaining access, but does not
call back the user.
Remote Management and Diagnostics
Remote access allows a central site technician to
configure, test, and diagnose T3000 modems in the
field.
To ensure reliable network performance, each time
you tum on the modem, a series of internal logic
tests, memory tests, and internal loopback checks
occur.
In addition, the modem provides data transmission
statistics, such as line-quality analysis, data-flow
analysis, and packet error rates.
