5. Make sure all hydraulic connections are tight. Start the hydraulic unit and slowly open the flow to
increase the brush RPM. Check rotation of each core. They need to rotate in the direction shown above.
6. The retract cylinders on the unit are used to push the boom arms away from the centerline. Set the
regulator to 60 psi for initial start-up. Activate the solenoid to release air pressure to the wrap arms. The
arms should move toward the centerline. Deactivate the solenoid and the arms will retract. Repeat this
process with the hydraulic unit on and the brushes spinning at the appropriate rpm. Make any final
adjustments to the air pressure.
7. With brush spinning and fully saturated test how long it takes to move from retract position to
centerline position. Should take between 6 to 7 seconds.
8. Adjust pillow block bearings as necessary to achieve proper move in rate.
9. Run test vehicle.
10. Brush should smoothly come to center line and move around vehicle.
11. If brush comes off the front of the vehicle, adjust pillow block bearings so the brush is less aggressive.
12. When brush is properly set up, program the Air Control Valve that was ordered.
4W1 VALVE AIR CONTROL INITIAL TUNNEL CONTROL PROGRAMMING:
1. Brush needs to be spinning when testing and adjusting
2. Brush needs to be fully saturated
3. The retract cylinders on the unit are used to push the boom arms away from the centerline. Set the
regulator to 60 psi for initial start-up. Activate the controller output to release air pressure to the wrap
arms. The arms should move toward the centerline. This motion should take approximately 6 to 7
seconds.
4. Deactivate the solenoid and the arms will retract. (Brush should retract slow and smoothly and does not
slam on the stops)
5. Make any final adjustments to the air pressure.
