Removing the top cover and bezel

Before you remove the server top cover and bezel, review the information beginning
with "Before you begin" on page 13 through "Handling static-sensitive devices" on
page 14.

Removing the top cover (all models)

Complete the following steps to remove the server top cover.
1. Lift the plastic cover-release latch near the edge of the top cover.
2. Slide the top cover slightly toward the rear of the server; the cover will stop after
moving approximately 25 mm (1 inch). Lift the cover off the server, and set the
cover aside.
Attention: To maintain proper cooling and airflow, install the server cover
before turning on the server. Operating the server for extended periods of time
(over 30 minutes) with the server cover removed might damage server
components.
