2.1.3 Magnetic field protection plates
Magnet plates produce very high attraction forces. These forces are
unpredictable and cannot be controlled by hand. Tecnotion iron core
magnet plates are always delivered with protection plates. These
plates function as a shield for the magnetic fields. With the protection
plates the magnet plates can be handled safely. In figure 2.4 a protec-
tion plate of a TL plate is shown.
The protection plates need to be used during assembly and
disassembly as described in chapter 4. It is important not to throw
them away.

2.2

Additional parts

For a proper installation of your linear motor system besides the
motor you will also need:
■
an appropriate servo controller/amplifier to drive the motor;
■
a ruler and a linear encoder to determine the motor position with
high accuracy;
■
power supply, cabling and connectors;
■
an Allen key set to install the products;
■
fixing components like bolts and dowel pins;
■
a bearing system.
Occasionally useful are:
■
dampers to prevent uncontrolled runout from the track;
■
a mechanical brake, especially in vertical applications;
■
heat sink compound for better heat transfer from the motor to
the heat sink;
