4. INSTALLATION
The installation order of this instruction manual must be followed. A
different order may cause dangerous situations and damage due to
uncontrolled magnetic attraction forces.
The magnet plates show large attraction forces on all soft magnetic
objects such as iron. These forces cannot be controlled by hand. They
may cause serious jamming danger. Do not bring any soft magnetic
objects like iron nearer than 25 centimeter of the magnetic side of
the magnet plate. Be sure that the magnet plates are fixed into your
machine before removing the magnetic field protection plates. Put
the protection plates on the magnet plates again before dismounting
them.
Magnetic sensitive objects like payment cards, pacemakers or other
magnetic information carriers may be damaged if they are brought
within 1 meter of the magnet plates.
The magnet plate and coil unit can be damaged when cleaned with
a non-prescribed cleaning agent. Use only isopropanol as a cleaning
agent.
4.1
Cleaning
For general, non-cleanroom applications, the magnet plates and coil
units do not need to be cleaned intensively before installation and
commissioning. For cleaning purposes Tecnotion prescribes isopro-
panol as cleaning agent for magnet plates. Isopropanol can also be
used for coil units, but only occasionally.
4.2
Installation
Before starting the installation, check the presence of the right
number and type of the delivered components. In case of doubt,
please contact Tecnotion immediately.
Before installing the linear motor components, the installation of the
mounting frame should be completed. The rails should be properly
positioned and mounted on the frame, as well as the ruler. The
slide should be provided with bearings, dampers, linear probe and
required cabling in such a way that a smooth, save and well positioned
transport of the slide over the stroke is established. The ruler should
be properly positioned and fixed to the frame. The operation of
bearings and dampers should be tested as well as the guidance of
the moving cables. The correct installation order for electrical safety
reasons is as follows.
First, mount the coil unit to the slide. Then move the slide to the end
of the track and mount the magnet plates on the exposed part of the
track. After this, the slide can be moved back over the mounted plates
after which the remaining plates can be mounted. Finally, the optional
stainless steel cover and water cooling can be installed and the wiring
can be connected. In the next paragraphs these steps are shown in
more detail. Before mounting the linear motor and the magnet plates,
special attention must be paid to the mounting surface of the motor,
this is described in the next paragraph 4.2.1.
4.2.1 Requirements for the mounting surface
For the slide and the mounting frame, we recommend flatness and
parallelism according to figure 4.1. When these values cannot be met,
it is necessary to increase the mounting height (H). The nominal
mounting height can be seen in table 3.2.
