Vertu TOUCH Procedure for Raw and Whole Milk

• Preset the • Warm up the strips to room temperature
incubator 20–25 °C (68–77 °F) for 20 minutes or longer
at 40 °C. before using.

To calibrate the Vertu TOUCH reader:
▶ Scan the Afla M -V (A)

barcode for the Lot# of
strips being used.
[Barcode remains stored in
Vertu TOUCH reader for future
use until expiry.]

▶ Pipette 200 µL of cold milk
sample (refrigerated or on
ice) to Afla M -V strip test vial
1
containing conjugate pad
using a strip test pipettor.*

▶ Vortex strip test vial 3 times
for 5 seconds each, leaving
cap open.
Strip and conjugate pad vial must be stored
at 2–8 °C (36–46 °F)
Range: 0–750 ppt (LOD: 25 ppt).

*How to use strip test pipettor:
1. Squeeze the top bulb of the pipettor.
2. Draw up enough liquid to fill the barrel of
the pipettor and have one or two drops
of liquid spill over into the lower bulb,
completely filling the barrel with liquid.
3. Squeeze the upper bulb to dispense all of
the liquid from the barrel only. There should
be liquid left in the lower bulb.

• Do not open the strip tube and the conjugate
pad pouch until ready to use. Keep the strip
tube closed at all times.

▶ Place the vial into the 40 °C
incubator, insert Afla-M
1
into the vial and incubate for
exactly 10 minutes.

While strip test develops,
enter the sample ID into
Vertu TOUCH reader.
▶ Insert the developed Afla
M -V strip into the Vertu
1
TOUCH M drawer (test lines
1
facing up) and close drawer.
▶ Press [Start Measurement]
key on touch screen to take
a reading.

▶ Press [Print] to print
the result.
▶ Press [Same Barcode]
to run the next test using
the same lot of strips.
▶ Press [Change Barcode]
to change the method or
lot of strips being used.
