Active Lane Change Assist
▌Function of Active Lane Change Assist
Active Lane Change Assist helps the driver with
changing lanes and is activated when the driver
indicates briefly.
This requires the following conditions to be fulfil-
led:
You are on a freeway or similar road.
R
The vehicle speed is between approximately
R
40 mph (65 km/h) and 110 mph (180 km/h).
The neighboring lane is separated by a dashed
R
lane marking.
No vehicle or obstacle is detected in the adja-
R
cent lane.
Active Lane Change Assist is selected in the
R
multimedia system.
Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC and Active
R
Steering Assist are switched on and active.

Green arrow: lane change initiated

Red arrow: lane change canceled
When Active Lane Change Assist is available, the
± display will appear along with green arrows
on the driver's display. If the system has been
activated but is not currently available, the ±
display will appears along with grey arrows on the
driver's display.
If no vehicle or obstacle is detected in the adja-
cent lane and a lane change is permitted, the lane
change will begin after the driver has indicated
briefly. The lane change will be shown to the
driver with a flashing green arrow next to the
± steering wheel symbol. Green arrow
be displayed in the appropriate adjacent lane on
the
Assistance
menu on the driver's display. The
Lane Change to the
Leftmessage, for example,
will also appear.
If a lane change is not possible directly after the
driver has activated the turn signal indicator
because an obstacle has been detected, for
example, the arrow will also flash in green next to
the ± steering wheel symbol and the neigh-
boring lane will continue to be monitored. When
the lane becomes clear, a lane change will be car-
ried out and the
Lane Change to the Left
sage, for example, will appear on the driver's dis-
play. If the green arrows stop flashing, the lane
change must be activated again.
